Packers-Panthers: Player notes

Injury updates, news on individuals from each team

GREEN BAY PACKERS
-- QB Brett Favre is the leading vote-getter for the Pro Bowl in balloting among fans on NFL.com. As of Thursday, Favre had received 458,387 votes, just ahead of fellow quarterbacks Peyton Manning of Indianapolis (441,852) and Tom Brady of New England (440,354). Other Packers at the front of their respective positions in the NFC are CB Charles Woodson (137,925) and MLB Nick Barnett (96,140). Voting on NFL.com ends Dec. 11.

-- DE/DT Cullen Jenkins had limited work in practice Thursday after sitting out the previous day. Jenkins is nursing a bruised knee sustained late in the game Sunday. He apparently will try to go through a full practice Friday and be ready for the contest against Carolina on Sunday.

-- TE Donald Lee was held back for most of the practice Thursday, a day after he was a full participant with a sore rib sustained in the last game. With Bubba Franks still out because of a sprained knee, the Packers are counting on Lee to continue to handle the lion's share of duties at tight end Sunday.

-- WR Koren Robinson made it through a full practice after being held out Wednesday to rest a sore knee. He's a good bet to play as a situational receiver and handle kickoff returns Sunday.

-- LB Tracy White did some early work Thursday as the medical staff tries to preserve him for the game Sunday. White has a sprained ankle, which he played with in the last game. He is a key special-teams contributor.

-- SLB Brady Poppinga (shoulder), FS Aaron Rouse (shoulder), FB Korey Hall (neck) and DE Jason Hunter (shoulder) were removed from the injury report Thursday, reducing the Packers' list to 14 players.

CAROLINA PANTHERS
-- QB Vinny Testaverde looks like Carolina's starter on Sunday simply because the Panthers can't afford to risk putting David Carr in at quarterback given how unstable he is in the pocket.

-- QB David Carr has been cleared to play this week after missing the last game with a concussion.

-- RB DeShaun Foster and the Panthers are 16-0 when Foster runs for more than 70 yards in a game. Foster did practice and should play Sunday after missing Wednesday's practice with a toe injury.

-- WR Steve Smith missed his second straight day of practice Thursday with a leg injury. More than likely, the Panthers are simply being cautious with Smith, hoping that with a little rest he'll be ready for the Packers on Sunday.

-- The Panthers got good news on Thursday as starting free safety Deke Cooper (shoulder) returned to practice sooner than expected and is likely to start against the Packers.

-- CB Ken Lucas (hip) practiced full on Thursday.

-- DT Damione Lewis (shoulder) missed his second straight day of practice on Thursday.
