Ex-Packer Jervey placed on IR

The Atlanta Falcons today announced that veteran RB Travis Jervey has been placed on injured reserve with a torn anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee. Jervey, who suffered the injury late in fourth quarter of Sunday's win over Carolina, will undergo surgery to repair the knee in the next several weeks.<p>

The Falcons announced today that they have signed RB Maurice Smith to replace Jervey on the 53-man roster.

Jervey, 6-0, 222 pounds, joined the Falcon last season after spending four years in Green Bay and two seasons in San Francisco. In his first season with Atlanta he registered a career-high 15 special teams tackles. Jervey had 10 rushing attempts for 17 yards, four kickoff returns for 143 yards with a 67 yard return and two special teams tackles in the Falcons first six games of the 2002 season.
