Packers-Seahawks: Player notes

Injury updates, news on individuals from each team

-- RG Jason Spitz returned to practice Tuesday and handled most of the reps with the starting unit, so he should be ready for Saturday's game against Seattle in the NFC divisional playoffs. Spitz had been out since suffering a strained right quadriceps in the final regular-season game Dec. 30.

-- CB Will Blackmon didn't practice and is iffy for the upcoming game. Blackmon on Monday was supposed to test an injured right foot he aggravated in the last game, but the medical staff pushed that workout back to Wednesday. Head coach Mike McCarthy declined to comment on who would be at nickel back if Blackmon can't play, though, Tramon Williams seemingly is the top candidate.

-- CB Charles Woodson might be back on punt returns Saturday, depending on the status of Blackmon. Woodson handled the duties until he suffered a toe injury on a punt return in the Thanksgiving game at Detroit and was replaced by Blackmon for the rest of the regular season.

-- RB Brandon Jackson did not practice Tuesday because of the flu. The rookie is expected to be back on the field Wednesday.

-- FB John Kuhn practiced after being held out of the bye-week workouts Friday and Saturday because of an unspecified bruise. Korey Hall is expected to be the lead fullback Saturday after missing the last two games because of a hip injury.

-- OT Cliff Washburn was signed to the practice squad Tuesday, replacing G Chris Patrick, who was placed on the practice-squad injured list. The 6-foot-5, 308-pound Washburn, a first-year player, was on Denver's practice squad during the regular season.

-- QB Matt Hasselbeck has a sore wrist and a right thigh contusion suffered in the Washington game, but he practiced Tuesday and will play Saturday.

-- RB Shaun Alexander still has a cracked bone in his left wrist but he practiced Tuesday and will play Saturday against Green Bay.

-- WR Deion Branch, who has missed two games with a calf strain, ran on the side on Tuesday but did not practice with the team. He is questionable for Saturday.

-- DT Rocky Bernard did not practice Tuesday because of a chronically sore groin but will play on Saturday.

-- DE Patrick Kerney did not practice on Tuesday but it was because he was given a day off after getting double- and triple-teamed against Washington.

-- S Mike Green did not practice because of a knee injury. He is questionable for Saturday's game.

-- LB Niko Koutouvides did not practice because of a knee injury that he suffered two weeks ago. He played last week against Washington and is expected to play Saturday against Green Bay.

-- WR Bobby Engram will be the starting flanker if Deion Branch is unable to play.

-- WR Nate Burleson scored a touchdown in one of the only two postseason games the Packers have lost at Lambeau Field. That came on Jan. 9, 2005 when he was with the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings won the game, 31-17.
