Five prime-time games show Packers' appeal

Including the preseason, the Packers will play five times in prime time this season. New President/CEO Mark Murphy says that's because there's added intrigue in how the team will play without Favre

Including the preseason, the Packers will play four games on ESPN's "Monday Night Football" and once on NBC's "Sunday Night Football" — and that latter number could increase, given the NFL's flexible-scheduling policy that starts in Week 11.

"I think there's a lot of interest in what the Packers are going to look like without Brett Favre," Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy told reporters on Tuesday. "We had a very successful year last year, we were a play away from the Super Bowl, and I think there's a lot of interest in our team. You look at the ratings the Packers have produced over the years, and I think those are all factors."

Also Tuesday, Murphy said the Packers likely would retire Brett Favre's number during one of the first four regular-season home games because of weather concerns. The Packers' fourth home game is against Indianapolis on Oct. 19. Wtih a bye and two road games to follow, the next home date is Nov. 16 against Chicago.
