Davenport placed on injured reserve

The injury bug had struck again, this time ending the season of a player who capitalized on a chance to shine after earlier injuries put a dent in the Packer offense.<P>

The Packers placed running back Najeh Davenport on injured reserve, coach Mike Sherman announced Wednesday.

Davenport was hurt on the opening kickoff of Sunday's Minnesota game, underwent surgery Tuesday for repair of a left eye orbital floor fracture.

The move leaves Green Bay with 52 players on the active roster, one below the regular season limit.
