Roster moves

The Packers claimed offensive tackle Jerry Wisne on waivers from the St. Louis Rams, GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman announced.<p>

To make room for the 6-6, 306-pound Notre Dame alumnus on the team's 53-man active roster, guard-tackle Barrett Brooks was placed on waivers.

Wisne (pronounced wiz-knee) is a third-year pro out of Notre Dame. He originally was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 1999-a fifth-round selection and the 143rd player chosen. He played in seven games as a rookie, with one start, appearing in five of Chicago's last six games.

Waived by the Bears on September 3 in their final roster reduction for the 2001 season, Wisne was signed as a free agent by Minnesota September 6 and waived September 11. Out of football for the balance of the season, he signed with Houston as a reserve/future December 29, 2001, was activated from reserve February 5, 2002, and after spending training camp and the preseason with the Texans, was waived on August 26. He subsequently signed with St. Louis November 27, was a game-day inactive December 1 and waived December 6.

Wisne, who will back up veteran Earl Dotson at right tackle, has been assigned jersey number 77. He will join the Packers on the practice field Wednesday.
