Injury update

Earl Dotson's back injury is showing definite signs of improvement, but the jury is still out on whether the veteran right guard will start Sunday vs. Buffalo, coach Mike Sherman said.<P>

"We did the MRI on Earl's back and compared it to a previous MRI that he had, and there's no significant change," Sherman said. "He feels a lot better. I believe he'll be available on Sunday, but based on the pain he was experiencing this past Sunday, I'm a little bit in doubt on that. But he feels very confident that he can do something this week."

In other injury news, Brett Favre is listed on the injury report as probable with a sore knee and ankle, suffered in the 49er game.

"It's a high ankle sprain," Sherman said. "He didn't complain about it after the game.

Favre received treatment for the ankle Monday.

Nose tackle Gilbert Brown, last seen breaking Jeff Garcia's slide on the Packer sideline, sat out practice Wednesday and continues to be bothered by a swollen ankle. The injury was aggravated by the flight to and from California," Sherman said.

"His ankle was not better but maybe a little bit worse on Monday, which is ironic considering hte didn't play," Sherman said. "But the flight certainly didn't help him."
