"To be selected for the Hall of Fame Game is a tremendous honor for our football team," Harlan said.
"I think football fans will really enjoy seeing a rematch of Super Bowl I. Plus, this gives us an extra week of training camp in Green Bay, which is not only good for the team, but for the fans and the community as well.
"This is just one more exciting event leading up to the dedication of a renovated Lambeau Field, September 7."
The August matchup will mark the Packers' fourth trip to Canton. Previously, the Packers defeated the Atlanta Falcons 38-24 in 1969 and lost to the Los Angeles Raiders 19-3 in 1993.
In 1980, the Packers faced the San Diego Chargers, but the scoreless game was called with 5:29 left due to severe lightning.
The Packers will have four preseason games following the Hall of Fame Game. Opponents for those preseason games likely will be announced by the NFL in February. Times and dates for the regular season schedule will be announced in early April.
The Packers will announce training camp dates and times in May.
The Hall of Fame Game will mark the first of two scheduled meetings with the Chiefs this year. The Packers also are slated to host the Chiefs in regular-season action.
