Panthers vs. Bears Halftime Update

Another week, same story as the Carolina Panthers fall behind early and is trailing the Chicago Bears 21-14. Here are a few notes from the first half worth monitoring in the second half.

The biggest thing from the first half was turnovers, with the Panthers turning it over three times. This is the biggest reason they are behind by as much as they are. The Bears have had three drives start inside the Panthers 35 and all three drives ended in touchdowns.

The turnovers have put the Panthers defense in bad position but they have continued to give up huge yardage totals with the Bears gaining 236 yards in the first half. The majority of the yards have come through the passing game as they have done a good job of keeping Matt Forte in check. He only has 35 rushing yards in the first half.

As bad as the first half was the Panthers kept themselves in the game thanks in large part to the final two minutes of the half. After a missed field goal by Robbie Gould, the Panthers marched down the field and were able to put points on the board. It was a great drive that was capped off by a touchdown pass from Cam Newton to Greg Olsen.

The biggest key in the second half for the Panthers will be eliminating turnovers. The fact they are only down seven after three turnovers has to make this team feel good heading into the locker room. It should be an entertaining second half of football.
