This game has been a tale of two quarters for the Carolina Panthers. The first quarter the Panthers played strong defense and jumped out to a seven point lead thanks to a touchdown pass from Cam Newton to Kelvin Benjamin.
The touchdown catch by Kelvin Benjamin was a great play as he took a solid hit to try and jar the ball loose as he caught it. The rookie wide receiver has had trouble with drops this year so for him to hold onto that pass is a great sign.
The second quarter was a different story as the Bengals outscored Carolina 17-3 to take a 17-10 lead into halftime. The big play of the game was an 87-yard touchdown run by the explosive Gio Bernard, who already has over 100 rushing yards in this game.
Aside from that one big play by Bernard, the Panthers team as a whole has played a pretty solid half of football. The offensive line has been able to protect Cam Newton not allowing a sack so far. With the time they have given Newton, he has been able to go 13-of-17 for 111 yards and one touchdown.
The one adjustment they should try and make in the second half is finding a way to get Greg Olsen open more, who had two receptions for 18 yards on three targets. The Bengals have struggled defending opposing tight ends and could be a mismatch Carolina can exploit.
