Notes

  • Fernando Velasco was the player that saw the biggest increase in his playing time from Week 5 to Week 6. He filled in for left guard Amini Silatolu when the starting left guard went down with an injury early in the game. The Panthers offensive line played well against a pretty good Bengals defensive front. They face another tough test on Sunday against a Packers defense that has some quality pass rushers.
  • Even with Fozzy Whittaker starting the game, Darrin Reaves saw a majority of the playing time, playing twice as much as Whittaker. The rookie running back provides more to this offense than Whittaker and until Jonathan Stewart or DeAngelo Williams come back, Reaves looks to be the main guy in the backfield.

Notes

  • The Panthers got to play much more in their base defense against the Bengals than they did against the Bears. This is why you see the 16 percent increase in playing time for Chase Blackburn, and the same decrease for Charles Godfrey.
  • Melvin White got the start due to the injuries to Bene Benwikere and Josh Norman, who both sat out against Cincinnati. White played every snap on defense for the Panthers in Week 6.
