Panthers Lose Late to Seahawks

After leading for most of the game, the Seattle Seahawks were able to steal a win thanks to a late touchdown throw by Russell Wilson.

  • For 59 minutes, the Carolina Panthers were in control of this game but they couldn’t finish it out. Russell Wilson was able to lead the Seahawks down the field and scored the only touchdown of the game for either team. This was actually a really good performance by the defense for the majority of the game however they couldn’t finish it out.

  • While this game will go down as a loss, there were some positives from the defensive side of the ball. After giving up 24 or more points each of the past five weeks, the Panthers defense was able to hold Seattle to 13 points. For most of the game, they were able to keep Seattle in check and when they did get close to scoring, the defense was able to come up with a big turnover, like Josh Norman’s interception at the end of the first half.

  • The Panthers offense started out very strong with field goals on their first two drives and had 168 yards of offense through the first three drives. The third drive though ended on a fumble in the red zone and Carolina struggled to move the ball after that.  On the final six drives, Panthers were only able to generate 102 yards and put three points on the scoreboard.

  • Rookie Kelvin Benjamin continues to have a strong first season, finishing the day with four receptions for 94 yards. He was able to do this against one of the better secondaries in the NFL and one of the best cornerbacks, Richard Sherman, in the league right now.
