The biggest change to any area of the Carolina Panthers this offseason has been their special teams. The team continues to focus on this part of the team with the recent signing of running back Jordan Todman. The former Jacksonville Jaguar was one of the top return man last season finishing third in the NFL with 972 kickoff return yards. He was 10th in the NFL in this category in 2013 with 712 yards.
While he is a one of the best return man in the NFL, he also gives the Panthers quality depth at the running back position. He particularly excels in catching the ball out of the backfield with at least one reception in 14 of 16 games played last year. He also finished the year with more receiving yards (198) than rushing yards (186).
Todman will be entering his fourth NFL season and joining his fourth NFL team. He was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He spent about half of his rookie season on their practice squad before being claimed by the Minnesota Vikings. Towards the end of the 2012 season the Jaguars signed him off the Vikings practice squad, where he has spent the past two seasons.
