Funchess to Attend NFLPA Rookie Premiere

Carolina Panthers' rookie wide receiver is scheduled to be one of 41 rookies to attend NFLPA's Rookie Premiere this week in Los Angeles.

It will be a busy week for Carolina Panthers’ wide receiver Devin Funchess who is attending his first career OTA. However, it will be cut short as he is scheduled to head to Los Angeles for the NFLPA’s Rookie Premiere from May 28th to the 31st.

According to the NFLPA’s press release the event helps players “gain information to assist in the development of their professional careers and personal brands. The union’s annual orientation includes seminars focused on financial planning, brand building and group player rights.”

This weekend will also be the first opportunity for Funchess to wear the Carolina Panthers’ game day uniform as he will take part in photo shoots with trading card companies Topps and Panini America.

With Funchess in Los Angeles on Thursday, the Panthers will be without two of their top wide receivers for the last practice of the week. The team is already missing Kelvin Benjamin, who is sitting out with a hamstring injury this week.

This shouldn’t be a huge deal for the Panthers and at the very least should create even more reps for some of the other wide receivers like Jarrett Boykin or Stephen Hill.
