On Wednesday night, the NFL Network announced the players ranked between 11 and 20 in their Top 100 for 2015. The Carolina Panthers saw middle linebacker Luke Kuechly announced as the 14th best player in the NFL. He moved up one spot from last year’s ranking of 15 and also was the highest ranked linebacker in the NFL.
Kuechly has wasted no time to make a name for himself in the NFL after the Panthers drafted him in 2012 with the 9th overall selection. In three seasons he has won NFC Defensive Rookie of the Year, NFL Defensive Player of the Year and earned two Pro Bowl appearances.
The awards are certainly warranted considering he has broken the 150 tackle mark in each season as a pro and has led the NFL twice in that category (2012 and 2014).
The Panthers know what type of player he is and quickly picked up his fifth year option will keep him under contract through the 2016 season. After working out contract extensions for Cam Newton, Greg Olsen and Thomas Davis this offseason, it would make sense for the front office to try and work on a deal for Kuechly.
Kuechly joins Greg Olsen (No. 89) and Cam Newton (No. 73) as the other Panthers in the NFL Network’s Top 100.
