According to NFL Network's Rand Getlin, the Carolina Panthers are optimistic that Luke Kuechly will be back on the field after their bye week when they take on the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6. Kuechly has missed the past three games due to a concussion suffered in the first half of Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
This may not be huge news, and there certainly could be skepticism, due to the fact that this is something that was heard a week ago. During Ron Rivera's press conference last Monday, he had said that Kuechly had made it to the next step of the concussion protocol and would be meeting with the independent doctor on Tuesday.
Well, needless to say the doctors did not feel he was fully recovered and did not clear him as he was out again, this time against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, this may have been the right move because Kuechly will now have two weeks to fully recover from the concussion and the hope has to be that this will not become a recurring injury by giving it plenty of time to heal.
The loss of Kuechly has not affected the Panthers record as they have stayed undefeated, winning the first four games of the season. However, the Panthers will need Kuechly as they are entering a tough stretch of games starting with the Seahawks, followed by the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers.
