- In addition to the three players the Carolina Panthers announced as out on Friday (Jared Allen, Daryl Williams and A.J. Klein) the team listed safety Dean Marlowe, running back Brandon Wegher, wide receiver Kevin Norwood and tight end Richie Brockel as inactive. As much as Norwood wanted to be active for this game against his former team, the Panthers decided to keep Brenton Bersin active along with the returning Jerricho Cotchery and will have five wide receivers active for this game.
- With tackle Williams inactive, Amini Silatolu will be the primary backup at the tackle position for the Panthers. He hasn't had much experience at the position, as he has primarily played guard but was considered the first option last year when Nate Chandler was injured. He also suffered an injury and wasn't able to play and the team then turned to Mike Remmers, who has played exceptionally since then.
- The defense is expected to have Kony Ealy and Wes Horton to be the starters at defensive end with Allen sitting out this week due to a back injury. However, expect undrafted rookie Ryan Delaire to see plenty of playing time, coming off a two sack performance against the Bucs.
- This will also be the first game since Week 1 that Luke Kuechly will be back on the field as he has been dealing with a concussion for the past month. The plan was for him to be eased back and put on a snap count, splitting time with Klein. However, with Klein out, Kuechly may see more snaps than expected. This is worth watching over the course of the game.
