- The Carolina Panthers were on the practice field Thursday but were missing six players including defensive tackle Dwan Edwards and linebacker Shaq Thompson, who both missed last week's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Edwards is battling a high ankle sprain and Thompson is working his way back from a knee sprain suffered against the Seattle Seahawks.
- The team also were missing Thomas Davis and Mike Tolbert, who were excused from practice to attend a funeral for one of Tolbert's relatives. In addition to Davis, Tolbert was joined by defensive end Charles Johnson and GM Dave Gettleman according to Johnson's Instragram post. Instagram post
- The biggest positive from practice though was rookie offensive tackle Daryl Williams returned for the first time and was a full participant on Thursday since he suffered a knee injury Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The depth at offensive tackle has been a concern since Williams has been out but that is erased with the return of Williams as he could step in at either tackle position if the need arised.
