Notes

  • There really wasn't many surprises with the Carolina Panthers injury report for Week 8. The team has already ruled defensive end Mario Addison and defensive tackle Dwan Edwards both out for this week against the Indianapolis Colts however the team has plenty of depth at both positions to overcome these losses. The team got back Jared Allen last week to go along with Wes Horton and Kony Ealy but the player worth watching Monday night will be undrafted rookie Ryan Delaire. Both players bring a similar skill set to this pass rush as both are speed rushers and I would expect Delaire to see his role expand Monday night. As for defensive tackle, the Panthers will continue to use the three man rotation of Star LotuleleiKawann Short and Kyle Love.
  • The biggest concern on the injury report has to be the doubtful designation for Ryan Kalil as he is a key and leader for this offensive line. The Panthers' center has been battling an ankle injury all week and did not practice. If he is not able to go, I would expect that Fernando Velasco would be the logical replacement but the team could also move Mike Remmers inside with the return of rookie Daryl Williams this week.
  • Shaq Thompson was also listed as doubtful this week with the knee injury he suffered against the Seattle Seahawks and I would be surprised if he plays Sunday. It would make more sense to give him an additional week of rest since he didn't practice at all this week and to make sure he is fully recovered for the second half of the season. The defense also has plenty of depth as A.J. Klein could step in at outside linebacker and be valuable to this group.
