- The Carolina Panthers are going to be missing center Ryan Kalil for their Week 8 showdown with the Indianapolis Colts and will be replaced by Fernando Velasco. This will be the first time all year the Panthers are going to be without one of their starting offensive linemen, which is a major difference from a season ago when the offensive line was in constant turmoil. The biggest concern for this offense is the snap between Cam Newton and Velasco, especially with the fact that it is expected to be raining for most of the game. This will be something worth watching over the course of the game.
- The team is also going to be without Shaq Thompson, who was listed as doubtful for this week, due to a knee injury suffered at the end of the Seattle Seahawks. The Panthers are a little more well-equipped for Thompson's injury as they are able to turn to A.J. Klein to step in and be a quality contributor.
- The team knew over the weekend that they were going to be without defensive linemen Dwan Edwards and Mario Addison, who they ruled out for Week 8 on Saturday. I would expect Ryan Delaire to have an expanded role replacing the speed rush that Addison brought to this defense.
- Once again, the healthy scratches for the Panthers were running back Brandon Wegher, safety Dean Marlowe and wide receiver Kevin Norwood who have all been inactive for a majority of the season.
