The Carolina Panthers have not played since Thanksgiving Day, a stretch of 10 days, but clinched their third straight division title thanks to the Atlanta Falcons' loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the early round of games on Sunday.
Prior to last year, there had not been a team in the NFC South to win the division in two consecutive years prior to the Panthers. This is now the team's third straight division title and fifth overall, which is the most of any team in the NFC South Division. The other three teams in the NFC South have each won three titles.
This is the earliest the Panthers have won the division the past three years after slightly edging out the New Orleans Saints last year and in 2013.
The 2015 season has been a special one for these Panthers as they are the only remaining undefeated team at 11-0. Now that the division is secure, the focus has to remain on winning the conference and locking up the number overall seed in the NFC. Entering Week 13, the Panthers held a two game lead over the Arizona Cardinals, who went on to beat the St. Louis Rams 27-3 today.
The Panthers are preparing to face the New Orleans Saints this afternoon.
