Carolina Panthers Have Highest Scoring Offense in the NFL after Week 14

The Carolina Panthers continues to look unstoppable on offense and now lead the league in points scored with 411 points scored in 2015.

The Carolina Panthers are the last remaining undefeated team in the league and while the defense has been very good, it is the offense that has been the most impressive in 2015. After their 38-0 victory over the Atlanta Falcons, the Panthers are now the highest scoring team in the league averaging 31.6 points per game. They are only one of three teams that are averaging over 30 points a game and are .4 points ahead of the Atlanta Falcons and .7 points ahead of the New England Patriots.

The Panthers' offense has been very consistent this year and have yet to score under 20 points in a game. They have actually scored 25 or more points in 11 straight games, which is the fifth longest streak in NFL history. It is hard to imagine but the Panthers have actually gotten better in this department as the season has gone on and have scored over 35 points in three of the past four games.

It should be no surprise that this impressive scoring starts with Cam Newton. The Panthers' quarterback is tied for fourth in passing touchdowns (28) and sixth in rushing touchdowns (7) and he is only one touchdown behind Tom Brady for the league lead in total touchdowns (36). Newton has elevated his game this year and should be considered the favorite for the league MVP with the way he has led this offense.

While the scoring starts with Newton, he hasn't done this all on his own. The Panthers are the only team in the NFL with two players in the Top 10 in rushing touchdowns with Stewart rushing for six touchdowns. The wide receivers have also done a good job especially when their number is called to step up. The offense was thought to take a step back when they lost Kelvin Benjamin but that has not been the case and the team has five players with three or more receiving touchdowns.

On Monday, the Panthers' Communication department tweeted that the Panthers' franchise record in points scored in a season stands at 421. This offense has a chance to break that record on Sunday against the New York Giants as they currently sit at 411 points scored. This has been a tremendous effort by this offense but the reason they have been this successful is that they have not had to lean on one player and gotten contributions from multiple players.
