On Wednesday, Cam Newton won the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the NY Giants. The Carolina Panthers' quarterback finished with 340 passing yards, 100 rushing yards and five touchdown passes. This is the third game in the past five weeks that Newton threw for five touchdowns.
This is the first time since 2006 that a player has won Offensive Player of the Week four times in a seven week period with LaDanian Tomlinson being the last to accomplish the feat. Newton has been on an incredible run these past seven weeks throwing 22 touchdown passes and only two interceptions.
This has been a busy week for Newton as it was announced on Tuesday night that he had been selected to the Pro Bowl, which is the third time in his career. Newton was joined by nine other Panthers, which was league high.
