QB spot still up for grabs

"I have been pleased with all four of them. I think they have all progressed from where they were last year," Fox said. "I think Jake (Delhomme) has stepped in and definitely earned where he is on the depth chart right now.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -Rodney Peete, Jake Delhomme, Chris Weinke and Randy Fasani are all battling for the starting quarterback position for the Carolina Panthers, and each has a chance.

Coach John Fox has said that the position wide open and he will use training camp and preseason to make a decision. Right now, Rodney Peete is still considered the starter, followed by Jake Delhomme, Chris Weinke and Randy Fasani, in that order. However, Fox reemphasized that the position is still up for grabs and won't be determined until after the team has played a few preseason games.

"I have been pleased with all four of them. I think they have all progressed from where they were last year," Fox said. "I think Jake (Delhomme) has stepped in and definitely earned where he is on the depth chart right now.

"(But) it is really hard to evaluate quarterbacks until you get into those games. I put a lot more stock in game situations than any other area of the evaluation process. It is still early, but I have liked what I have seen so far in the drills we have done."
