The Carolina Panthers have announced via their Twitter account that current NBA MVP Stephen Curry will pound the drum before Super Bowl 50.

Stephen Curry is certainly not shy about which NFL team he roots for, growing up in Charlotte, NC. In Super Bowl 50, he will have the honor to pound the Keep Pounding drum before the Carolina Panthers take the field Sunday night.

The former Davidson College star has found tremendous success in the NBA in a short period of time. He won the MVP award last year as well as helping the Golden State Warriors win a championship. Curry sent Cam Newton a congratulatory message last night after he was named the MVP.

As I said, the Warriors' guard is not shy about which team he roots for and fans need to look no further than his Twitter.

Curry told SI.com that if the Panthers win the Super Bowl he hopes "that he will get a chance to storm the field."

The 'Keep Pounding' drum is a symbol for the speech given by former Panthers' linebacker and coach Sam Mills. As the team's website says, the honorary drummer will hit it four times to signify four quarters.
