The Carolina Panthers were going to have two players in the Top 10 of the NFL Network's 'Top 100 Players of 2016' however they weren't sure where they would land. Luke Kuechly landed just outside the Top 5 at seventh overall and was ranked as the best linebacker in the NFL.
Kuechly was drafted by the Panthers in the 2012 NFL Draft with the ninth overall pick and has gone on to win the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and then NFL Defensive Player of the Year in his first two years in the league. This past season though may have been his best yet, even though he missed three and half games due to a concussion.
He once again surpassed 100 total tackles but had a career high four interceptions in the regular season as well as his first career defensive touchdown when he intercepted Tony Romo on Thanksgiving Day. He then went on to grab two more interceptions during the playoffs, returning both for touchdowns.
