Getting thin on defense

The Panthers' depth at linebacker is disappearing as they head into their next game, at home against New Orleans. Already, top pick, Dan Morgan is out for another 3-5 weeks with a broken tibia, now Hannibal Navies and Dean Wells could be out as well.

Outside linebacker, Navies, missed the entire second half of the San Francisco game with a rib injury, and on Monday, Seifert said he's not sure if Navies will be able to return for the Saints.

The veteran Wells was filling in as a starter for Morgan, he had back spasms, and Seifert says he was moving very gingerly on the way home.

If neither of these guys can go, the Panthers will continue with a pair of very inexperienced players. Kory Minor, a second year player to has been a back-up, and Nate Hemsley, who was just acquired last week after being in Miami's pre-season camp.
