Davis is expected back this week along with center Jeff Mitchell, who sat out with a groin injury.
In fact, Fox seemed hesitant when asked if Rucker would be ready for the NFC playoffs, which will begin the weekend of January 3-4 for the Panthers. Rucker leads the team with 12 sacks. "He is making progress, but the return date, I don't have that," Fox said.
Wide receiver Kevin Dyson could see more action as the Panthers head into the playoffs. He had a couple of grabs on Sunday against Detroit and showed an ability to get open. Dyson has spent most of the season on the PUP list or inactive since he tore an Achilles tendon in June.

--DE Mike Rucker has not played the last two weeks and may be held out again this Sunday at New York. Panthers head coach John Fox said he's unsure if Rucker will be ready in time for the playoffs.
--CB Terry Cousin did not play Sunday because of a calf injury. He wasn't listed as one of the players who are expected to play on Wednesday.
--WR Kevin Dyson played Sunday for the first time this season and could see some action down the stretch and into the playoffs for the Panthers.
--DT Brentson Buckner did not play Sunday and was not listed among the players who are expected to return to practice Wednesday.
--K John Kasay has made three field goals from 21, 42, 44 and 49 yards in the past two weeks and broken out of a mini-slump.
