Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox hinted that there's a possibility rookie Ricky Manning will start over veteran Terry Cousin this week even if Cousin is completely recovered from his calf sprain. When asked if Manning has a chance to start, Fox said, "There is that possibility."
Manning, the team's impressive third-round draft pick out of UCLA, has started the last four games for the Panthers and has played extremely well, returning an interception 27 yards for a touchdown this past week against the New York Giants.
--RB Stephen Davis will be "ready to roll" this Sunday against the Cowboys, according to head coach John Fox. Davis was held to 59 yards on 26 carries in the last meeting with Dallas.
--RB DeShaun Foster will be used as the team's third-down back primarily on Sunday. The danger with Foster is he fumbles too much. Foster returned to practice on Wednesday after missing practice on Tuesday with the flu.
--CB Terry Cousin practiced Tuesday and is expected to play Sunday although he may not start. If Cousin doesn't start, he'll still see significant action as the team's nickel back.
--CB Ricky Manning may start again this week for Terry Cousin, even though Cousin is expected to suit up.
--DT Brentson Buckner has sat out the last two games with a sore knee but did work Tuesday and is expected to play.
--C Jeff Mitchell will start against the Cowboys this week.
--DE Al Wallace continues to be a key reserve for the Panthers filling in for Mike Rucker.
--LB Dan Morgan has been cleared to play this week and might be a difference maker in Sunday's game against Dallas as the Cowboys try to work under the coverage with short passes.
--K John Kasay has made his last seven field goals.
