To his credit, Terry Cousin has taken his demotion from starting cornerback to nickel back in stride. Cousin went down in late November with a calf strain and has since been replaced by Ricky Manning, a good looking young rookie.
"I'm trying to win a Super Bowl and I'm not in it for anything else," Cousin said. "(Manning is) doing a good job and I support both of those guys in there. It's going to take three corners to get to the Super Bowl. You just can't have two. It was a good call by them letting him get in there. He's doing a great job."
--S Jarrod Cooper practiced Wednesday and will play Sunday.
--RB Stephen Davis did not practice on Wednesday and remains questionable for Sunday's NFC Championship game. Davis didn't do interviews on Wednesday, except to offer one ambiguous response about his availability for Sunday's game: "I'm pretty confident I might be (playing)." Davis is still bothered by a pulled quadriceps, but walked without a limp in the locker room. When asked if Davis will practice on Thursday, Panthers head coach John Fox said, "We'll see when we get there."
