Pantherinsider.com has learned that the Panthers will visit with Defensive Tackle Travis Johnson from Florida State tomorrow at Bank of America Stadium. Johnson is regarded as the best defensive tackle in the draft, and figures to be available when the team picks 14th in the upcoming NFL Draft.
The 6' 4", 296 lb. Tackle ran a 4.90 40 yard dash at the Florida State Pro Day workouts and scored a 25 on the Wonderlic test.
Johnson is regarded as a run-stuffing defensive tackle who is very quick off the snap. He is a great athlete who is very strong and is a solid tackler.
With the current steroid scandal still in full bloom, and the team's history with so many off-field issues, it would be puzzling for the Panthers to invest a high-round pick on a player who has questionable character, like Johnson, who was charged but acquitted of sexual assault.
