Atiyyah Ellison School: Missouri
Ht: 6-4 Wt: 305 40: 5.05 Year: 5Sr
Bio: Junior college transfer who's started the past three seasons winning All-Conference honors as both a senior and junior. Posted 60/ 12.5/2.5 last season after 72/14/4 the prior year.
Positives: Nice-sized athletic prospect still trying to translate his natural abilities onto the football field. Quick off the snap, plays low with leverage and breaks down well. Strong at the point, tough to handle and fluid changing direction, displaying the ability to get out to the flanks and chase the action. Possesses a closing burst of speed and plays with a good degree of suddenness. Slides off blocks, easily redirects to the action and brings ball carriers down on initial contact.
Negatives: Does not play with great balance and easily knocked off his feet. Must improve his hand technique and moves to get around blocks. Not quick locating the action nor very instinctive.
Analysis: Possessing good size/speed numbers as well as growth potential for the next level, Ellison continually flashes ability, yet has shown little consistency. At times looks more like an athlete running around the football field rather than a defensive lineman making plays. Needs time and one-on-one coaching, yet offers a good degree of upside potential.
Panthers trade 2 4th's, pick DT Ellison
