Panthers once again on WBT

According to Erik Spanburg of the Charlotte Business Journal, The Carolina Panthers and WBT-AM have reached an agreement to make WBT the flagship radio station for the team once again. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Panthers recently completed a five-year contract with WRFX-FM, owned by Clear Channel Communications. The team also decided not to renew the contract of long-time play-by-play announcer Bill Rosinski at the end of the season, but instead chose to start fresh with former UNC basketball color analyst Mick Mixon. Mixon worked along-side Woody Durham broadcasting Tarheel basketball games for the last 16 years.

"I am excited to be joining the Panthers organization and look forward to working with the coaches, players, and fans of the team," Mixon said. "I have been blessed with a great position with the Tar Heel Radio Network and have watched the Panthers grow since their inception. Announcing NFL football in my native state has always been a goal, and I am thrilled with the opportunity."
