Minter Signs Extension

The Carolina Panthers locked up one of their most respected and beloved players in Panthers history on Friday when they signed Safety Mike Minter to a four-year contract extension that will make him a Panther through 2009, at least on paper.

According to the Charlotte Observer, Minter's new deal is worth $14 million over five years (including this season), with a $3 million signing bonus and a $2 million option next spring.

This new deal frees up $2.4 million in Salary cap space this season, putting the Panthers estimated cap room at roughly $5 million.
