Week 3: Scouting the Dolphins

--QB Gus Frerotte completed just 46.5 percent of his throws (20 of 43) in last Sunday's 17-7 loss to the New York Jets, but he was hurt by having receivers drop five passes.

--QB Sage Rosenfels hasn't seen action in Miami's first two games but continues to hold off A.J. Feeley for the backup position behind starter Gus Frerotte.

--RB Ronnie Brown is receiving some criticism by Dolphins fans because his 92 rushing yards pale in comparison to the 276 posted by Carnell "Cadillac" Williams, a former Auburn teammate who was taken three spots later in the April draft.

--RB Sammy Morris played an expanded role at tailback against the Jets, but he will enter Sunday's contest against Carolina with a sore shoulder.

--WR Chris Chambers had a poor outing against the Jets, catching just three passes for 21 yards and committing one of the team's five drops.

--WR Marty Booker's string of 75 consecutive games with at least one reception almost ended against the Jets, as he was limited to one catch for 21 yards.

--WR David Boston, who caught two passes for 18 yards against New York, continues to split snaps with Wes Welker (2-21) as Miami's third wide receiver.

--TE Randy McMichael has matched the best start of his NFL career with 14 catches in the first two games. McMichael also started last season with 14 receptions.

--K Olindo Mare missed a 21-yard field goal against the Jets because of a botched snap, but sent two of his kickoffs for touchbacks, giving him three on the season.

--MLB Zach Thomas went over 1,500 tackles for his career with a 12-stop performance against the Jets.

--SLB Junior Seau made significant strides in his switch from the weakside linebacker position by registering 12 tackles against the Jets.

--S Yeremiah Bell has moved ahead of fellow backup Travares Tillman for action as a fifth defensive back against the Jets.
