Panthers trim roster to 75

As the regular season draws nearer, NFL teams start making hard decisions on who they are going to keep on their rosters through the season, cutting players that often could be of value to them.

The Carolina Panthers finished trimming their roster today, waiving TE Sean Mulcahy and DE Otis Grigsby, and placing CB Marcus Cassel (hamstring), DE Devan Long (groin) and G Scott Peters (foot) on injured reserve.

late last week, the Panthers began their initial cuts, releasing T Qasim Mitchell and waiving DE Kevin Carberry, CB DaShane Dennis, K MacKenzie Hoambrecker, WR Lynzell Jackson, LB Corey Jenkins, WR Terrance Metcalf, WR Daniel Smith and T Albert Toeaina.

The aforementioned players were all long-shots to make the roster. There were no surprise cuts in this first round.

The Panthers must cut their roster to 53 players on September 2nd, and can establish an 8-man squad of practice players on the 3rd.

Notable players in jeopardy of losing their jobs on Saturday are LB Keith Adams, RB Eric Shelton and QB Stefan LeFors.
