Fair could sign with Panthers

Four year NFL veteran could be the starting cornerback if he signs with Carolina...

CHARLOTTE, N.C - Cornerback Terry Fair who was released by the Detroit Lions on Sunday, was in Charlotte to talk with the Panthers about signing a contract with the team.  After leaving the Panthers he visited the Dolphins and then flew to Baltimore. Two other teams Green Bay and Jacksonville would also like to talk to Fair about joining them.

"I've been a starter for four years, and I want to continue that," Fair said. "In the NFL you need three cornerbacks. I definitely want to be a one or a two, but I've got to go into the best situation for me."

If Fair does sign with the Panthers he would have a chance to be a number one or two cornerback because the Panthers don't have much talent in the defensive secondary.

According to Fair's agent Reggie Smith, the Panthers remain in the mix for Fair services. Fair is expected to make a decision today on which team he will play for this season.

Fair never has played a full season in his career and missed the final four games last season with a ligament injury in his right foot. He has played in last two preseason games and he says that he will be ready to go this Sunday when all the teams that are interested in him kick-off their seasons.
