Panthers get their man in Fair

The Panthers have agreed to a contract with free agent CB Terry Fair.

CHARLOTTE, N.C - The Carolina Panthers have agreed to a contract with free agent CB Terry Fair. He will sign a one-year contract that could be worth up to $1.2 million.

With Fair signing today he will get a chance to get some playing time this Sunday against the Ravens and could start in week two when the Panthers play Fair's old team, the Detroit Lions in Carolina.

Agent Reggie Smith said Fair's decision came down to the Panthers and the Baltimore Ravens.

"He's a starter and he would have gotten a chance to start at both places. He just got off a plane and decided that Carolina was the right place," said Smith.

The Panthers are thin at talent in the cornerback spot because they released last year's starting cornerbacks Doug Evans and Jimmy Hitchcock, for salary cap considerations this spring. Also, Rashard Anderson, will miss the entire season while serving a suspension for repeat violations of the NFL substance abuse program.
