Notes on the Panthers upcoming game against Detroit

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-Panther's Offensive line will receive a boost this week with the return of guard Jamar Nesbit.  Nesbit is a week ahead of schedule, after suffering from a high ankle sprain last week. The team expects to be able to work him back into things during practice this week.

Also, returning to practice this week is rookie corner back Dante Wesley.  Wesley has missed the last month due to a sport hernia.  I would not expect to see him dressed on Sunday.  The coaching staff will want to take their time with him and make sure everything is healed.  Plus, with the amount of time he has missed, more practice time will very beneficial to him.

After the game against the Ravens, a couple of players seemed to be a little banged up.  According to Coach Fox, "We had some minor bumps and bruises going into the game," Fox said. "(Defensive end) Mike Rucker and (defensive tackle) Brenston Buckner and (linebacker) Mark Fields hadn't played much for us in the last two preseason games. They made it through admirably, and we're probably going to have to limit them a little bit in practice this week."

As reported earlier and announced in a press conference by Coach Fox yesterday, Rodney Peete will be the starter once again this week.

With around 4,000 tickets still available for the game against Detriot this Sunday, another black out seems to be highly likely.  The cut off to have the game televised is 1:00 pm Thursday.
