Kicker signed to replace Kasay

Panther go out and get a kicker to replace the injured John Kasay. The Panters sign kicked Jon Hilbert to replace the injured John Kasay.

Charlotte, NC – The Carolina Panthers today announced that they have signed kicked Jon Hilbert to replace the injured John Kasay.

"We have signed to the practice squad Jon Hilbert, a kid out of Louisville who was with Dallas last season and was in Chicago's camp this year. We had four kickers in this morning. We also had Jaret Holmes, Tim Seder and Mike Husted. We felt like we had the four best capable guys in here and we elected to go with Jon," said Fox.

Fox wants to get more consistent play out of his kickers and he thinks that Jon Hilbert can provide that.

"He is strong legged. The timing was quicker with him than the other three. He was the guy we elected to go with. We haven't gotten real consistent play out of that position in our first two ball games, so it is something we needed to do in case we get into a close game where that is going to be the difference in the game," said Fox.

The status of kicker John Kasay right now is not certain he could be placed on the injured reserved list, which would mean that he would miss the rest of the season. But also he could be back as the Panthers kicker in a few weeks if his injury heals.
