Delhomme sustained the injury taking a sack against the Atlanta Falcons in week 3.
David Carr, who sustained a back injury in a 16-13 win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, and Matt Moore are the only Quarterbacks presently on the roster. Quinton Porter, a second-year player out of Boston College, is currently on the practice squad. However, the team will more than likely sign a veteran to back up Carr for the rest of the season.
FOX NFL analyst Terry Bradshaw noted that it was an elbow injury that ultimately ended his career.
Could this be the beginning of the end for Delhomme's career? Speculation is that this is an injury that already existed in some form, and that it worsened on the play in question. It has been noted that Delhomme has missed some accuracy and crispness to his passes the last couple o seasons, often floating passes too high for his receivers to catch. Conversely, 2007 had started out being Delhomme's best season statistically since joining the Panthers in 2003.
