Carolina @ Dallas News and Notes

Charlotte, NC - Cowboys' running back Emmitt Smith and wide receiver Reggie Swinton traded fisticuffs at practice Friday.  It seems not all is wine and roses in Dallas.

The Panthers have yet to allow a 100-yard rusher this season.

The Panthers enter the game with the 20th total offense (13th rushing, 22nd passing), while the Cowboys have the 24th best offense (15th rushing, 24th passing).

The Panthers have the 1st ranked defense (5th rushing, 2nd passing) and the Cowboys have the 16th ranked defense (16th rushing, 19th passing).

The all-time series between Dallas and Carolina is ties 2-2, with Dallas winning the last two meetings.

A win will put the Panthers at 4-2, tying the best start in franchise history.  When was it?  You guessed, and we're all tired of saying it: 1996.

Emmitt Smith is 234 yards short of Walter Payton's 16,726 yard career rushing mark.  For the sake of Jerry Richardson's irregular heartbeat, let's hope Smith doesn't get it Sunday.
