Bye week may give Panthers second wind

"I've asked the team to erase what our record is, treat this like a new season and come back and fight our butts off the second half of the season," coach John Fox stated.

Charlotte, N.C. - "I've asked the team to erase what our record is, treat this like a new season and come back and fight our butts off the second half of the season," Fox said.

The Panthers, who have a bye this weekend, will be returning to practice on Monday to get ready for their game against the New Orleans Saints.  At the moment, the Panthers are on a five game losing streak.

Coach John Fox wants his team to come back from their weekend well rested and ready go.  This bye week will give the Panthers a chance to work on some of the problems that they have had along the way so far this season.

"We are just resting a lot of the guys that have played a lot of snaps thus far", said Fox.  "Our approach this week on the bye week is to hone in some of the new guys and get them accustomed to both our offense and defense, clean up some of the mistakes that we have made both offensively and defensively, and also rest some of the guys that have had some bumps and bruises along the way."

The bye week will give the Panthers some needed time to fix some of well-noticed problems with the offense.  Although the team has had some glitches along the way, Fox is still impressed with how hard his team has worked thus far and wants them to continue and improve their performance.

"I have really been impressed with the way our guys have worked", said Fox of his beloved Panthers.  "I think we have practiced and played very hard.  Defensively, we are probably a little further ahead than we are offensively. Part of that is due to some of the injury situations. We lost some close games. We played very hard to make them close."
