Charlotte, NC - Carolina won the time of possession battle (32:21 to 27:39), had more first downs (21 to 17), and had more total net yards (396 to 345).  Where we lost the game was turnovers (gave up two and took none) and the old bug-a-boo, end of game defense.

Lamar Smith's rushing touchdown tied him with the late Fred Lane for rushing touchdowns in a single season (7).

Said Wesley Walls: "That was awful. That's a tough one to lose like that. But it's been that way all year."

Julius Peppers' sack gives him 10 on the year, making him the first Carolina Panthers defensive lineman to record double-digit sacks in a season.  His 10 sacks also leads the NFL.

Said John Fox on the pattern of losing: "It's almost like (the movie) ‘Groundhog Day'.  We've had it happen more than enough this year."

The Panthers have given up 51 points in the last four minutes and ten seconds of games this season.

No serious injuries were reported.
