Panthers sign Godfrey

According to Scout.com's Adam Caplan, the Carolina Panthers signed their first of two third-round picks, inking former Iowa cornerback Charles Godfrey to a four-year deal.

According to Caplan, "Godfrey will receive minimum base salaries of: (08) $295,000 (09) $385,000 (10) $470,000 (11) $555,000. He'll also receive a signing bonus of just over $854,000."

The Panthers hope Godfrey can fill the void at free safety, a position they have churned-through since letting Deion Grant leave via free agency nearly five years ago.

Their other third-round pick, LB Dan Connor, will receive the same base salaries along with a signing bonus of just over $788,000.
