Cleveland, O.H. – Second-year running back Dee Brown rushed for 122 yards in his first career NFL start to help the Panthers end an eight-game losing streak.
Brown was filling in for Lamar Smith, the Panthers' leading rusher and scorer, who was put on paid leave following an arrest on drunken driving charges.
Smith had many big runs in the game and showed that he had good speed as well. The Panthers will not have Lamar Smith back for the rest of the season so the starting job for the next four games will go to Dee Brown.
If he can play like he did Sunday in the final four games of the season, the Panthers may have found themselves a good back-up running back in Brown.
