Profile: Leftwich has a great arm, excellent size and ever-improving passing skills. He is very strong and puts a lot of zip on the ball, with great touch. He doesn't throw passes into coverage and can read the defense very well. Leftwich's mobility is questionable but he is big which may help him avoid sacks. He has every tool that teams are looking for at the moment - he has athletic ability and he is a good pocket passer. Leftwich has a ton of talent who is tough, and smart as well. He does a good job reading defenses. He hasn't played against the strongest of competition playing in the MAC so it could take him some time to develop in the NFL but he has the ability to be special.
Fit with Panthers: Leftwich would be the Panthers franchise quarterback for many years to come if the Panthers end up drafting him. He would go well with last years second round pick RB Deshawn Foster from UCLA to provide a great one-two punch for the future.
Projection: Leftwich will battle Palmer the whole off-season to see what QB will be the first quarterback drafted. Palmer is likely to be that first quarterback drafted so the Panthers picking # 9 might have a better chance at getting Leftwich than Palmer, but Leftwich will still be a top 10 pick.
