QB Profile: Chris Simms

The Panthers will be looking at a quarterback in the 1st few rounds of the NFL Draft and here is the profile of top quarterback prospect Chris Simms.

Chris Simms, Texas, Senior 6-5 222

Profile: Simms has very good size and good arm strength.  He needs to work on his accuracy, but he seems to be willing to work and learn. Simms isn't going to beat anyone running with the ball, but he can move around and shows decent speed.  He has great mechanics and excellent footwork. Something that he is working on and is getting better at is reading the defense. He has all the talent that of a very smooth passer and has the ability to be a star in the NFL.  Some scouts question his ability in the big games because he hasn't come up big against the top teams in the country.  He also has a great bloodline being New York Gaints Quarterback Phil Simms' son.

Fit with Panthers: This might be the Panthers best bet at a quarterback if they want to take one in the second round with the #41 pick in the draft.  He would a great fit in the Panthers offense and many people think that he will be a better pro quarterback then a college quarterback.  He would fit nicely to make plays and allow the defense to win the football game.

Projection:  Simms has first round talent and could raise his stock up so that he is a late first round quarterback.  He will most likely be a high second round pick and could be the steal of the draft if he does drop to #48 for the Panthers.  He has great all around talent.
