Richmond, VA - Adrian Archie is a player that has a ton of heart when it comes to the game of football. Despite being only 5-11 215 Archie is a terror on the football field, but a player who is liked by his teammates and coaches and everyone that come in contact with Archie.
Archie this season ranked third on the team with 92 tackles and led the team with 13 quarterback hurries and was named Second Team All-Conference at Richmond. Archie as a junior in 2001 was named Third Team All-Conference when he had 92 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks.
Archie's goal now is to full fill a life long dream and make it to the NFL.
"I started playing football when I was six years old, I wanted to play middle school football then when I did that I want to be a starter on the high school varsity team, get a football scholarship and then make it to the NFL," said Archie. "I have reached all my goals in football beside making it to the NFL."
Football does a lot of things for a lot of people and Archie wasn't any different.
"Football taught me responsibility, I love the competition and I hate to lose. It also gave me something to do and helped me stay out of trouble," said Archie.
Archie will play either weak side outside linebacker, middle linebacker or strong safety in the NFL. He would love to stay at linebacker but is willing to play whatever will get him on the field.
"Before this season I watched a lot of film on (Ravens linebacker) Ray Lewis, he was always in the right place, always made the right reads, and always was able to make the plays that need to be made."
When you watch Archie you see a little Ray Lewis in him and when Archie describes himself he is right on.
"I would say I fly around, I have speed, I have desire, I'm tough, I can cover and I have leadership," said Archie.
The biggest thing that Archie say has happened to him at Richmond was being named the captain of the team by his teammates. That is because Archie is a very well respect player and man from the coaches to his teammates and he is the type of person who will not let another teammate down.
Well Archie is more then just a football player he is a great guy who likes animals and after his football career is done has said that he would like to be a veterinarian because he likes animals and working with them.
The only animals he is going to be dealing with now is Lions, Bears, Panthers, Jaguars, and the other animals in the NFL.
