Charlotte, NC – The Carolina Panthers are looking for a solid number three wide receiver. The Panthers have talked with the agent for Baltimore Ravens free agent wide receiver Brandon Stokely. Stokely will be visiting the Panthers as soon as this weekend and the Panthers would like to get something done.
The Panthers GM Marty Hurney has an interest in him and would like to bring him in the mix for next season. The Panthers are thought to be willing to offer Stokely a three-year deal worth around a $ 1 million per season. If things don't work out with Stokely the Panthers will turn to another free-agent wide receiver MarTay Jenkins of the Arizona Cardinals. Jenkins would give the Panthers another option on kick and punt returns to help out Steve Smith. The team is impressed with Jenkins and would like to bring him in for a visit.
A bigger name that would demand more money then either Stokely or Jenkins is the Tennessee Titans free-agent wide receiver Kevin Dyson who came in and visited the team on Thursday, but didn't sign a contract.
Oronde Gadsden of the Miami Dolphins is another name that has come up with the Panthers.
